About The Position

The Maintenance Engineering Intern will be responsible for supporting the maintenance and controls department by providing process, design, quality, and other improvement ideas. This position is responsible for working with others to improve systems that will minimize costs and create future, more efficient, processes. This individual is encouraged to develop daily goals/strategies and ensure all equipment is running effectively and efficiently. To perform this job successfully, this individual must be able to perform each major job function and job duty satisfactorily. This individual must participate and contribute in team environment, possess self-motivating skills, and be dependable and trustworthy. This individual must possess skills to: problem solve and communicate effectively. This individual must possess proficient organizational, interpersonal, and multi-tasking abilities. This individual must possess knowledge in mechanical design and mathematical concepts. This individual must also be able to work with power tools and computer equipment and possess the ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. The Mechanical Engineering Intern must possess advanced computer knowledge in MS Office, AutoCAD, and MS Project. Other duties assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED required.
  • Must be enrolled in an accredited Engineering program for a bachelor’s degree or a two-year technical degree.
  • Computer Skills: knowledge in MS Office, AutoCAD, and MS Project is highly desired.
  • The Process Engineering Intern must have the ability to alternate walking, standing for extended periods of time, sitting, climbing, bending, reaching with hands and arms, talking, hearing, carrying or lifting up to 10-50 lbs. above chest level; while in the plant/warehouse.
  • While performing the job, this position will have frequent clerical duties that include: walking, sitting, talking, hearing, and will have to occasionally use the hands and fingers to lift, feel, and reach.
  • Specific vision abilities required—the use of close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.

Nice To Haves

  • Courses related to manufacturing processes and statistics courses are helpful.
  • Mechanical Engineers are preferred for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with maintenance troubleshooting, machine uptime, project development, and design work.
  • Assist with efficiency and cost reduction efforts, implementing mechanical and process improvements.
  • Assist with new product development, process flow development, and problem solve as needed. Work with vendors to quote and procure components and equipment.
  • Provide feedback to supervisors on process improvement statuses--and also-- track, measure, and report productivity reports.
