About The Position

DoubleTree by Hilton, located in Melbourne Beach, FL, is seeking a Maintenance Engineer to join our team. The Maintenance Engineer directs all aspects of engineering operations, including emergency programs, energy management, asset protection, preventive maintenance, and repairs to equipment, structures, and grounds. Directs the Maintenance staff, accounting/budgeting, asset protection, and inventory control. Directs improvements in revenues and profit margins while maintaining quality. Ensuring all operations are in alignment with the direction of the General Manager, the Company, brand standards, and local, state, and national regulations. The Hotel operates 24 hours a day and 7 days a week, so operational demands require variations in shift days, starting times, and hours worked in a week.

Requirements

  • Five or more years of related experience in building management/engineering in the hospitality industry (preferred).
  • A substantial and successful track record in profitable Engineering management while maintaining integrity and professional standards.
  • Minimum of three years of managerial skills, involving frequent decisions, meeting deadlines, and negotiating contracts.
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Outlook, Excel, and Word.

Responsibilities

  • Direct all facets of Engineering.
  • Stay informed about brand standards and the competition's products and strengths to enhance revenues and profit margins while maintaining quality.
  • Provide leadership to assist the General Manager in positioning the hotel as a market leader.
  • Walk the property daily to identify issues and communicate with associates.
  • Ensure preventative maintenance programs are in place to protect assets.
  • Inspect and evaluate the condition of the Engineering areas, equipment, and inventories.
  • Coordinate activities with local and federal law enforcement agencies, fire companies, and insurance agencies.
  • Generate cost comparisons and solicit bids/proposals as needed.
  • Ensure all required licenses, permits, contracts, insurance, and inspections are in proper order.
  • Direct all emergency programs, including equipment maintenance and inspections, staff training, and compliance with policies.
  • Promote an accident prevention program to minimize liabilities and related expenses.
  • Ensure appropriate sanitary, safety, security, and emergency procedures are in place and followed.
  • Communicate effectively to provide clear direction to staff.
  • Conduct regularly scheduled meetings with the Engineering staff.
  • Conduct disciplinary action and performance evaluations for the engineering staff.
