About The Position

The primary mechanical engineering resource to the paper maintenance team, this position leads technical design-outs of known issues and provides project leadership for new capital equipment installations, retrofits, major maintenance, or reliability improvement efforts. The role includes providing mechanical training to maintenance technicians to enhance team member development and skill depth, as well as supporting the Paper Maintenance Pay for Skills program to assist with training efforts within the team. The position ensures that the Paper Maintenance Pay for Skills system fully supports the Safety, Quality, Housekeeping, and maintenance goals for the long-term sustainability of the program. Additionally, maintenance supervision may be provided when needed.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and understand both P&ID's and technical manuals.
  • Excellent data analyzing, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to think systematically and transfer knowledge to others.
  • Commitment to training other team members.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written, able to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Proficient in MS Office products, AutoCAD, and SolidWorks.
  • Project experience that includes small to medium capital and/or major projects.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.

Responsibilities

  • Promote reliability growth within the Paper Department by providing leadership in the development and implementation of Root Cause Analysis, Precision maintenance techniques, and Preventive maintenance programs.
  • Develop tools and techniques to analyze and develop cost-effective preventive maintenance procedures.
  • Provide assistance in developing standards-based installation procedures for new equipment using best available practices.
  • Identify, plan, and implement projects to improve the inherent reliability of plant equipment.
  • Develop and implement a standardized monitoring program including vibration analysis, infrared inspections, non-destructive testing, and other predictive maintenance techniques throughout the facility.
  • Participate in daily line meetings and weekly planning and scheduling meetings, providing vibration and lubrication analysis reports to aid in setting shutdown schedules.
  • Identify and implement modifications to equipment and/or procedures that reduce the time required to repair/replace equipment.
  • Champion vendor services to maximize quality, performance, and reliability of equipment repairs.
