The Maintenance Engineer at the University of San Francisco is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of various mechanical systems and equipment within the university's facilities. This includes working with heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, boilers, pumps, valves, and other building systems. The engineer will perform skilled and technical duties as outlined in the job description, ensuring compliance with safety policies and directives. The role requires a proactive approach to maintenance and repair tasks, including troubleshooting and diagnostics of electrical and control systems.

  • Operation, maintenance, and repair of all boilers, heaters, pumps, valves, engines, generators, and lines used in the distribution of steam and heated or processed water.
  • Operation, repair, and maintenance of refrigerant compressors, condensers, evaporators, traps, transfer pumps, expansion valves, stop valves, and float valves.
  • Operation, maintenance, and repair of air compressors and distribution lines.
  • Operating, maintenance, and repair of natural and manufactured gas distribution lines.
  • Operation, repair, and maintenance of water filters, softeners, piping, and pumps used in conjunction with water distribution.
  • Operation, maintenance, and repair of all types of motors or engines used to power pumps, compressors, and fans.
  • All electrical/control systems work and repair including circuit diagnostics, tracing, and troubleshooting.
  • Operation, maintenance, and repair of fuel oil systems including piping, pumps, valves, and controls.
  • Operation, maintenance, and repair of building automation systems for HVAC, lighting, and other controlled mediums.
  • Maintenance and repair of sanitary sewer systems, sump pumps, and related fixtures.
  • Maintenance and repair of trash/recycling/composting/baling compactors.
  • Maintenance and repair of all kitchen equipment.
  • Operation, maintenance, and repair of all life safety related equipment.
  • Inventory control for parts and materials required for maintenance and repairs.
  • Equipment room maintenance and repairs.
  • Repair and installation of locks, keys, hardware, and doors.
  • Ability to safely lift 50 lbs.
  • Clean driving record and valid license.
  • Available for any shift.
  • Experience and ability to perform a variety of mechanical tasks preferred.
  • Must possess the necessary physical and mental requirements to safely and efficiently perform the duties of the job.
