About The Position

The Maintenance Engineer & Operator (MEOP) serves as a critical on-site technical professional who bridges production operations and maintenance engineering. The role is responsible for ensuring stable equipment operation, consistent product quality and a safe working environment while proactively identifying and resolving equipment and process related issues. By combining operational ownership with first and second level maintenance capability, the MEOP directly contributes to maximizing productivity, equipment reliability and overall manufacturing excellence.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required
  • Minimum 3 years of proven experience as a manufacturing operator in a production environment
  • Fundamental understanding of mechanical, electrical and process principles related to manufacturing equipment
  • Ability to respond calmly and logically to abnormal situations and equipment issues under time pressure
  • Strong sense of ownership, accountability and teamwork in a manufacturing environment
  • Willingness to continuously learn and expand technical capabilities beyond traditional operator roles
  • Hands-on maintenance experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics and equipment manuals preferred
  • Basic knowledge of PLCs, sensors, actuators and automated production systems preferred
  • Experience with TPM, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma or other continuous improvement methodologies preferred
  • Participation in equipment startup, process transfer or industrialization project preferred

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Operate, monitor and control assigned manufacturing equipment in accordance with defined process parameters and product schedules
  • Set up and adjust operating conditions to ensure stable production, consistent quality and optimal throughput
  • Monitor product quality, yield and process trends and take immediate corrective actions when deviations occur
  • Strictly follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) while actively identifying opportunities to improve work standards, efficiency and robustness
  • Serve as the primary owner of assigned equipment during production shifts
  • Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance (PM) and basic predictive maintenance activities to prevent unplanned downtime
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot minor to moderate mechanical, electrical or control-related issues in a timely and structure manner
  • Conduct first-level failure analysis and implement temporary countermeasures to restore safe operation
  • Escalate complex issues appropriately and collaborate closely with Maintenance Engineers, Process Engineers and equipment vendors as needed
  • Accurately document maintenance activities, failures and corrective actions to support knowledge sharing and continuous improvement
  • Analyze equipment downtime, defects and process losses using root cause analysis methods (eg, 5-Why, Fishbone, Pareto)
  • Propose, lead and implement Kaizen initiatives to improve equipment reliability, productivity, safety and maintainability
  • Utilize OEE, downtime and process data to identify loss drivers and improvement opportunities
  • Support equipment modifications, upgrades and new equipment installations, including commissioning and ramp-up support
  • Actively contribute to cross-functional improvement teams and share best practices across lines of shifts
  • Comply with all safety rules, procedures and regulations, including strict adherence to Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and energy isolation requirements
  • Participate in risk assessments, hazard analyses and safety audits for equipment and processes
  • Promptly report abnormalities, near-misses and unsafe conditions and actively support corrective and preventative actions
  • Ensure all work is performed in compliance with internal standards, regulatory requirements and quality systems
