About The Position

The Maintenance Engineer I performs minor maintenance, diagnosis, and repair of equipment, physical systems, and structures within assigned facilities. The Plant Engineering department oversees maintaining a safe environment for staff, patients, and visitors through the installation, preventative maintenance, and repair of building and grounds infrastructure and equipment.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• One (1) year experience in the electrical/mechanical field of building maintenance required.
• Hospital maintenance experience preferred.
• Successful completion of Drivers Privileges for SHS Vehicles application process required.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge and skills in one or more of the following trades: mechanical, welding, pneumatics, refrigeration, carpentry, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, or steam fitting.
• Ability to read and understand blueprints and facility schematics.
• Familiarity with computer interfacing concepts including communications and components.

Responsibilities

• Perform minor maintenance, diagnosis, and repair of equipment and physical systems.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local rules and standards.
• Safely and effectively use electrical and mechanical shop tools and test equipment.
• Utilize a wide variety of test equipment and hand/power tools including cable testing equipment.
• Troubleshoot and repair various physical plant systems and equipment.
• Coordinate systems shutdowns and equipment repairs or services with outside contractors.
• Conduct staff in-services education on various systems and equipment related to the physical plant.
