About The Position

The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for the upkeep of buildings and mechanical systems, such as heating, cooling and refrigeration systems. Maintenance mechanics are expected to perform emergency electrical and mechanical repairs, which necessitates the ability read electrical schematics and troubleshoot/diagnose both electrical and mechanical issues. Maintenance mechanics work with production machines, such as Multivac, Weber, Provisur, PFM, Copeland, ferrite, Carlyle, Hayssen, AEC Chillers, Triangle, Multipond and Yamato. This position will also work on various computer-based programs such as Allen Bradley Panel view and micro logic programming, Allen Bradley, Sew and other different motor control drives.

Nice To Haves

  • Food industry experience preferred
  • Strong background in refrigeration systems – HVAC experience
  • Ability to use computer-based maintenance PM and Parts program
  • Knowledge PLC software strongly preferred
  • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Install conduit, pipes or tubing, inside designated partitions, walls or other concealed areas, and pull insulated wires or cables through the conduit to complete circuits
  • Works from ladders, scaffolds or roof to install, maintain or repair electrical wiring, equipment or fixtures
  • Use a variety of tools or equipment, such as power construction equipment, measuring devices, power tools, and testing equipment
  • Assemble, install, test and maintain electrical or electrical wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus or fixtures using hand tools or power tools
  • Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers or other components
  • Maintain current electrician’s license
  • Direct or train workers to install, maintain or repair electrical wiring, equipment or fixtures
  • Test electrical systems or continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures, using testing devices
  • Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus or components, using test equipment and hand tools to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem
  • Inspect electrical systems, equipment, or components to identify hazards, defects, or the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes
  • Install ground leads and connect power cables to equipment, such as motors
  • Advise management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous
  • Provide preliminary sketches or cost estimates for materials or service
  • Perform general maintenance tasks within the plant, including equipment repair, pneumatics, pump and motor repair, advanced mechanics, waste water controls, computerized operating systems (PLCS), HVAC and boiler systems
  • Respond to maintenance calls and needs within all areas of the plant
  • Observe, diagnose, service, and repair equipment effectively and efficiently
  • Complete preventative maintenance tasks per the established schedule
  • Actively work to minimize downtime and keep production running
  • Troubleshoot problems that occur and determine root cause solutions
  • Support the installation of new equipment and other maintenance tasks related projects as needed
  • Complete paperwork, documentation and checklists in a thorough, accurate and legible manner
  • Comply with all applicable safety, food safety and GMP policies
  • Inspecting, diagnosing problems and repairing refrigeration systems as needed.
  • Performing leak checks and system charging.
