About The Position

The Maintenance Electrician I, II, III positions at Louisville/Jefferson County MSD involve inspecting, troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing electrical, electronic, and pneumatic systems and components. The role is critical in ensuring the operational efficiency of various systems within the Operations Division. The position is available at three levels, with responsibilities increasing with each level, from basic maintenance tasks to more complex installations and repairs, including directing the work of apprentices and other crew members.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Experience as a journeyman industrial electrician (3 years for I, 5 years for II, 7 years for III).
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to work various shifts and mandatory overtime.
  • Knowledge of electrical maintenance techniques and safety codes.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of a journeyman-level training program in maintenance of electrical systems.
  • Experience with medium and high voltage equipment.
  • Ability to distinguish primary colors and their attributes.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect and troubleshoot electrical, electronic, and pneumatic systems and components.
  • Maintain and repair electrical circuits and related instruments and equipment.
  • Calibrate, maintain, and repair electronic instruments and systems, including programmable systems.
  • Perform all aspects of electrical construction and maintenance.
  • Direct the work of apprentices and assist with training as needed.
  • Utilize technical knowledge to interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and blueprints.
  • Prepare and maintain records, reports, and log books related to tasks performed.
  • Drive to job sites to transport tools, equipment, and materials.
