About you and this role Dow is seeking our next Maintenance Electrical Technician to support Louisiana Operations in Plaquemine, LA. You will provide maintenance electrical technical input and oversight for the daily technical support necessary to maintain safe and reliable operation of the Maintenance equipment in the facility. Participate on maintenance team which supports reliability improvement across all Operations facilities. This role requires advanced skills and expertise in a range of processes, procedures, and systems, and/or specialized technical expertise within an analytical/scientific method or operational process to perform a broad range of complex work assignments. You may act as a working team lead, providing subject matter guidance and coordinating work of others.

Requirements

  • A minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience required.
  • A valid US Driver's license required.

  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.
  • Electrical Expertise: Maintain, repair, and install industrial electrical systems and components.
  • Maintenance Planning: Manage work orders, estimate resources, and coordinate execution using tools like SAP.
  • Safety Leadership: Enforce electrical safety protocols and lead high-risk work compliance.
  • Troubleshooting: Quickly diagnose and resolve electrical issues to reduce downtime.
  • Team Leadership & Communication: Guide teams, write procedures, and coordinate with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Manage Electrical work orders, from the moment work is identified until it can be handed over to appropriate individuals, internal or external, for execution.
  • Provide project management of other system planners or contractors to develop detailed elements of overall package preparation.
  • Identify required manpower, materials, equipment, and services. This includes:
  • Estimating repairing, replacing and installing motors, A/C and D/C VFD's, electrical circuits and MCC starters.
  • Estimating repairing, replacing, and installing conduit, wiring and electrical equipment.
  • Estimating the replacement, adjusting, maintaining, and repairing electrical distribution center breakers.
  • Estimating repairing and replacing controls communication networks.
  • Perform accurate job cost estimates.
  • Utilize SAP and maintenance planning board and PM administration/creation.
  • Adhere to established work processes and practices.
  • Ensure compliance with established processes and guidelines, including permitting, isolations and risk identification.
  • Perform routine maintenance on production equipment and perform repair on them when necessary.
  • Troubleshooting: identify a problem and offer logical solutions to them.
  • Wire machines and electrical panels in line with prints.
  • Respond quickly to emergency situations.
  • Utilization of every tool, which may include drills, mechanical saws, sanders, and buffers.
  • Browse schematics and use tools and diagnostic devices to service and install electrical components.
  • Approves Energized Electrical Work <=600V (i.e. approves new procedures or work that does not have an approved procedure).
  • Provides guidance and leadership in the application of Dow electrical safety practices and design guidelines.
  • Identify where equipment isolation may/will require the application of temporary protective grounds (TPG’s).
  • Understand the applicability of the S-340 De-Energized Electrical Work Process (DEWP) at LAO and the FER’s role in validating a DEWP.
  • Understand the applicability of the EWP-30 Energized Electrical Work Permit (EEWP) and the roles involved in writing an EEWP.
  • Writes electrical operation, isolation, and maintenance procedures.
  • Assist in training on procedures where appropriate.
  • Implements new procedure and procedure improvements via the MOC process.
  • Provide assistance with transitional switching activities within the plant facilities. (It is highly recommended that an FER always be present for transitional switching activities and such requirement be included on the facilities switching procedures.)
