About The Position

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Maintenance Director to oversee all aspects of facility operations and environmental services within our skilled nursing facility. This leadership role is responsible for ensuring a safe, compliant, and well-maintained environment for residents, staff, and visitors. The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise, leadership skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities both independently and collaboratively.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in facility maintenance, preferably in a healthcare or skilled nursing environment
  • Strong knowledge of life safety codes, emergency preparedness, and regulatory compliance (CDPH experience preferred)
  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing teams, including housekeeping or environmental services staff
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and work both independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
  • Experience working with vendors and contractors
  • Working knowledge of building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing)

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in healthcare facility management or related field
  • Experience with state surveys and regulatory inspections
  • OSHA and safety training certifications

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and perform general facility maintenance, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, and building repairs
  • Develop, implement, and maintain life safety programs, including emergency preparedness plans, fire safety systems, and disaster readiness
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with all applicable CDPH (California Department of Public Health) regulations and life safety codes
  • Supervise, train, and manage the housekeeping team (8 employees), including performance management and daily workflow coordination
  • Create and manage staff schedules to ensure adequate coverage and efficient operations
  • Coordinate and work closely with external vendors, contractors, and inspectors to ensure quality service and regulatory compliance
  • Conduct routine inspections of the facility to identify maintenance needs, safety risks, and opportunities for improvement
  • Maintain accurate documentation for maintenance activities, compliance records, and inspections
  • Collaborate with administration and interdisciplinary teams to support facility goals and resident care standards
  • Lead and execute facility improvement projects while maintaining the ability to work autonomously and meet deadlines
