About The Position

Summary/Objective In keeping with our organization's goal of improving the lives of the Residents we serve, the Director of Maintenance plays a critical role in maintaining all physical plant assets on the property. The Director of Maintenance manages the day-to-day operations of the maintenance department. Essential Functions Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Responsible for all service and repair tasks as assigned. Operates the maintenance department in a safe manner by ensuring compliance with Federal, State, and local regulations and following established policies and procedures. Ensures the physical building meets all safety and building codes. Schedules vendors and contractors for necessary building repairs and emergencies outside the scope of routine maintenance. Assists in emergency situations related to the physical plant and acts as the facility's safety officer. Ensure that regular equipment and systems maintenance schedules are monitored and followed at all times. Works with department heads to ensure routine maintenance in Resident care areas does not interfere with the care or safety of Residents. Responsible for operating the Maintenance Department within budgetary guidelines and limitations. Completes annual performance reviews of all subordinate staff. Provides guidance and education to staff in regards to their performance. Responsible for training and educating staff members. Provides counseling and disciplinary action to subordinate staff members as needed. Assure that established infection control and standard precaution practices are maintained at all times. Follow established safety precautions when preforming tasks and using equipment and supplies. Reports all hazardous conditions, damaged equipment, and supply issues to the supervisor. Maintains the comfort, privacy and dignity of Residents and interacts with them in a manner that displays warmth, respect and promotes a caring environment. Must answer and respond to call lights promptly and courteously when working in Resident care areas. Assists with training of new staff. Communicates and interacts effectively and tactfully with Residents, visitors, families, peers, and supervisors. Attend and participate in departmental meetings and in-services as directed. Work Environment This job operates in a health care setting. This role requires regular walking to various locations around the facility while pulling or pushing carts. This position works in Resident care areas as well as outside weather conditions. This role may also come into contact with patients who may have contagious illnesses. Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move objects weighing over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 3 years' experience working in a Healthcare building maintenance capacity.
  • SNF/LTC Experience
