About The Position

Silver Birch Living is proud to be opening Silver Birch of Mansfield in Spring 2026 — an affordable assisted living community built to serve seniors in the greater Mansfield area. Our mission is simple yet powerful: Inspire Purposeful Lives for All. We're assembling our founding community team, and we're looking for an experienced Environmental Services Manager / Maintenance Director who believes that a safe, clean, and well-maintained environment is core to resident dignity, comfort, and quality of life. Requirements

  • 2+ years of building maintenance and facility management experience, including mechanical equipment repair
  • 1+ years of direct supervisory experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Working knowledge of building plans and basic utility systems
  • Understanding of cleaning chemicals and sanitation standards
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record

  • Experience in senior living or affordable assisted living environments

Responsibilities

  • Preparing and turning apartments for new resident move-ins
  • Overseeing contracted facility services, including HVAC, fire prevention/monitoring, cable/phone, resident call systems, and other essential building systems
  • Planning, scheduling, and performing inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs to community infrastructure (walls, ceilings, doors, windows, roofing, hardware, flooring, and more)
  • Maintaining accurate records, including work orders, service logs, inspection reports, and preventive maintenance documentation
  • Managing a historical and current asset log for all community property, grounds, equipment, and systems
  • Overseeing landscaping, snow, ice removal, and grounds safety
  • Serving as the community point of contact for local officials and inspectors, including Code Enforcement, Fire, Police, Homeland Security, Department of Health, OSHA, and OSHA-related safety standards
  • Responding to facility-based emergencies (power failures, plumbing, heating, vandalism, weather events, etc.)
  • Performing hands-on carpentry, painting, and plumbing maintenance
  • Hiring, training, and supervising housekeeping staff, ensuring performance and cleanliness standards are upheld
  • Overseeing the community van program, including driver training, routine inspections, maintenance, and repairs
  • Leading the facility safety program, including annual disaster preparedness training and required safety drills
  • Managing and supervising landscaping, building safety, and environmental budgets, controlling expenditures effectively
  • Ensuring a safe working environment for staff and residents
