About The Position

The Maintenance Department Head at Corning is responsible for overseeing all maintenance operations within the plant to ensure the optimal functionality, safety, and reliability of manufacturing equipment and infrastructure. This role involves developing and executing maintenance strategies, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and leading continuous improvement initiatives to minimize downtime and enhance operational efficiency.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in maintenance management within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor and develop a team.
  • Knowledge of process control systems and maintenance best practices.
  • Experience with budgeting and cost management in maintenance operations.
  • Familiarity with safety regulations and compliance standards in manufacturing.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with PeopleSoft or similar maintenance management software.
  • Lean Six Sigma certification or experience in lean methodologies.
  • Project management experience in a manufacturing setting.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and mentor a team of maintenance supervisors, technicians, and support staff.
  • Develop training programs to enhance team skills and knowledge in modern maintenance practices.
  • Define and lead the implementation of process control systems (SOP's, SOS's) throughout the facility for critical infrastructure equipment.
  • Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs to minimize unplanned downtime.
  • Oversee planning and scheduling of maintenance activities to support production schedules.
  • Manage maintenance budgets, track expenditures, and ensure cost-effective operations.
  • Ensure proper maintenance of all manufacturing equipment.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments to identify and mitigate hazards.
  • Provide project leadership for production and facility improvement projects.
  • Drive lean initiatives and root cause analysis to address recurring issues and improve processes.
  • Provide project leadership for Performance Excellence (PEx) improvement projects.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams and external contractors to ensure timely project execution.
