About The Position

This position will be assigned to Public Works Streets Department JOB SUMMARY The Maintenance Crew Leader I performs various duties including driving dump truck and operating equipment, as well as making small repairs and daily maintenance to trucks and equipment used. Other duties include construction related to street and drainage installation and/or maintenance.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required.
Must possess a valid Texas Class "A" Commercial Driver's License.
Two years of experience in operation of vehicles and light equipment.
Ability to understand and abide by City of Conroe and Departmental policies and procedures.
Must be able to work on call duty and respond at any hour during an emergency when requested.
Must be able to attend after hours classes to renew or obtain required certifications/licenses when necessary.
Ability to work as many hours needed to get the work assigned completed.
Must be able to lift weights of 50 pounds and 100 pounds with assistance.
Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
Must be capable of conducting routine maintenance to vehicles and equipment.
Ability to use all tools to accomplish the job in an efficient manner.
Ability to adapt to new technology, new methods and changing conditions.
Must be capable of reading, writing and speaking in English.
Must be able to communicate using a two-way radio.
Must pass background check and pre-employment substance abuse screening as a condition of employment.
A motor vehicle record check and job-related doctor's physical exam may also be required.
Safety-sensitive positions remain subject to random drug and alcohol testing after hire.
