OC Public Works has opportunities for the position of Maintenance Crew Lead I in its OC Operations and Maintenance area. The Maintenance Crew Lead I is distinguished by the scope and difficulty level of projects assigned. Incumbents are required to work from simple plans and specifications to repair, replace, or install public works infrastructure; generally, work with a single piece of equipment or various power tools; and are given wider latitude when making decisions in the field within established guidelines. The incumbents may report to a Public Works Maintenance Supervisor or Senior Maintenance Inspector and will supervise a crew of County maintenance personnel, court referral crews, or other assigned labor resources consistently performing unskilled or semi-skilled work. Assignments at this level include, but are not limited to, road stenciling, hand-patch asphalt, graffiti removal, vegetation trimming, trash or debris removal, sign installation and repair, and fencing, which includes pouring foundations, installation or repairing gates, and arc welding.
