About The Position

At SSAB, Crane Technicians inspect, maintain, and repair various cranes and lifting devices. This role requires strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills and a commitment to ensuring crane reliability and workplace safety. Crane Technicians work swing shifts. Multiple positions available!

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in industrial crane maintenance.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and crane safety standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics and blueprints.
  • Good computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft 365.
  • Good communication, collaboration, interpersonal and teamwork skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with PLC’s and automated control systems.
  • Electrical and/or mechanical background with knowledge of motor controls, etc.
  • Machining or welding experience.
  • Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on cranes and lifting equipment.
  • Calibrate and test crane systems to ensure proper operation and compliance with safety standards.
  • Collaborate with operations and safety teams to minimize downtime and ensure safe crane usage.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues.
  • Replace worn or defective part as needed.
  • Maintain accurate service records and documentation.
  • Respond to emergency breakdowns and perform on-site repairs.
  • Assist in scheduling outage timelines and required resources.
  • Complete required training within designated timeframes and attend all required meetings.
  • Understand and support the company’s goals and values and adhere to company, department, safety, quality, environmental, and ethics policies and procedures.
