About The Position

The position involves repairing and maintaining machinery and mechanical equipment such as conveyors, engines, motors, pneumatic tools, and production machines and equipment. The role also includes supervising other mechanics and managing multiple sites within the New Jersey area. The candidate will be responsible for handling after-hours calls and emergencies, performing repairs and inspections, and maintaining complete repair order records. The position requires knowledge and experience with conveyor systems, electrical 3-phase motor controls/PLC, and overall material handling experience.

Requirements

  • Associates or Bachelor's Degree preferred or equivalent work experience.
  • Two+ years of related experience working on industry-related conveyor systems.
  • Knowledge and experience working with conveyor systems and electrical 3-phase motor controls/PLC.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual in Spanish is helpful but not required.
  • Welding Certificate is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Manage multiple sites within the New Jersey area.
  • Handle after-hours calls and emergencies.
  • Perform repair/inspection and installation of conveyor systems, racking, balers, air compressors, carton sealers, etc.
  • Recognize potential malfunctions and proactively repair to mitigate costs.
  • Maintain complete repair order records.
  • Observe mechanical devices in operation and listen to their sounds to locate causes of trouble.
  • Dismantle devices to gain access to and remove defective parts.
  • Examine form and texture of parts to detect imperfections.
  • Inspect used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements.
  • Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments.
  • Repair or replace defective parts.
  • Install special functional and structural parts in devices.
  • Lubricate and clean parts.
  • Start devices to test their performance.
  • Set up and operate lathe, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts.
  • Initiate purchase orders for parts and machines.
  • Repair electrical equipment.
