Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary liaison between the Maintenance Department and Operations to ensure timely communication, alignment of priorities, and efficient coordination of all maintenance activities.
  • Collaborate with Operations to understand aircraft utilization needs, then coordinate with Maintenance leadership to prioritize work.
  • Manage and track 100-hour inspection burn-down schedules to predict drop-dead times and plan maintenance.
  • Provide guidance on annual and IFR certifications.
  • Log aircraft after maintenance, verify documentation, identify gaps, and communicate return-to-service timelines.
  • Act as the primary liaison between the Fleet Utilization Team, in-house maintenance staff, and external/outsourced maintenance providers to coordinate all scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities.
  • Monitor real-time aircraft status, maintenance discrepancies, and airworthiness to optimize fleet availability and minimize downtime for flight training schedules.
  • Prioritize, schedule, and coordinate maintenance events (inspections, repairs, overhauls) to align with training demands while ensuring compliance with FAA regulations, manufacturer requirements, and academy policies.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve in-service issues promptly, providing technical guidance and recovery plans to return aircraft to service as quickly as possible.
  • Track and manage Minimum Equipment List (MEL) and Configuration Deviation List (CDL) deferrals, ensuring proper documentation, approvals, and adherence to safety and regulatory standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of aircraft maintenance status, utilization metrics, forecasts, and reports using maintenance tracking systems and software.
  • Coordinate logistics for parts procurement, tooling, manpower allocation, and travel for field repairs or AOG (Aircraft on Ground) situations.
  • Communicate effectively with flight operations, instructors, dispatch, and students regarding aircraft availability, delays, or maintenance impacts on training schedules.
  • Ensure all maintenance releases, deferrals, and documentation comply with applicable Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs), company GMM (General Maintenance Manual), and quality standards.
  • Analyze fleet performance data to identify trends, recommend improvements for reliability, and support proactive maintenance planning.
  • Foster strong collaborative relationships with internal teams and external vendors to achieve optimum fleet reliability and cost-effective maintenance outcomes.
