This temporary position is with NC Agriculture & Consumer Services - Marketing, located at 1801 Yorkmont Road, Charlotte NC, Mecklenburg County. Job Order Hourly Rate of Pay: $18.00 (Based on education and/or years of relevant work experience reflected on the application). The NC Agriculture - Charlotte Regional Farmers Market has a need for a full-time, long-term temporary assignment for a Maintenance / Construction Technician I. The selected candidate will perform:  Maintenance and upkeep of the buildings and grounds includes carpentry, heating, cooling, mowing, pruning, fertilizing and spraying  Maintenance of all Market equipment service records and minor repairs  Direct and assist with the custodial maintenance responsibilities including general housekeeping and trash removal  Provide general assistance with the operation of the Charlotte Regional Farmers Market

Requirements

  • Basic to general knowledge of the principles and techniques of assigned trades.
  • Basic knowledge of general maintenance and building repair.
  • Skill in the use and care of tools and equipment necessary to the work.
  • Ability to read and interpret building codes.
  • Ability to read blueprints.
  • Ability to operate the more common types of shop or wood working equipment.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Physical strength sufficient to perform heavy physical tasks for extended periods of time.
  • High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma or a sufficient year-for-year combination of education and experience associated with a variety of mechanical or building trades; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • May require current certification by the Environmental Protection Agency as a Type I, II, III or Universal technician as required by Title 40, Code of Federal Regulations Part 82, Subpart F.

Responsibilities
