About The Position

The primary purpose of this position is to perform all custodial cleanliness tasks and to ensure a safe, clean, and healthy school campus. The individual will perform tasks as assigned to assist in all District performance goals.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Leadership skills to effectively give direction to other employees to ensure the completion of all assigned custodial tasks.
  • Ability to read and understand instructions for cleaning, maintenance, and safety procedures.
  • Basic computer skills, including understanding District software, approving employee time sheets, submitting work orders, and ordering custodial supplies.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing to other staff concerning requirements of the job and other important information.
  • Knowledge of minor repair techniques and building and grounds maintenance.
  • Ability to operate cleaning equipment and lift heavy equipment.
  • Basic understanding of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division to know the proper dilution of chemicals.

  • Custodial experience desired but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all daily assigned custodial maintenance duties in assigned work areas.
  • Perform any additional tasks, building rentals, school functions, etc. as required.
  • Maintain a cleaning schedule that will include cleaning of floors, chalkboards, wastebaskets, windows, furniture, equipment, and restrooms.
  • Keep school building and grounds, including sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, and play areas, neat and clean.
  • Comply with local laws and procedures for storage and disposal of trash.
  • Move furniture or equipment within the building as directed by the principal.
  • Organize and set up facilities for special events.
  • Work closely with District Custodial and any other Amarillo ISD staff at assigned campus.
  • Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting and climbing.
  • Operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.
  • Correct unsafe conditions in the work area and promptly report any conditions that are not immediately correctable to the supervisor.
  • Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with all local policies and state and federal statutes including the Educator Code of Ethics.
  • Perform such other tasks and accept such other responsibilities as may be assigned.
