About The Position

The Maintenance Associate Program is an exciting opportunity for current IP employees as well as external candidates who possess mechanical aptitude to begin a maintenance career in one of our Container facilities. At the end of approximately eighteen (18) months to two (2) years of training and upon successful certification in all key areas you will become a qualified maintenance mechanic. The selection process identifies candidates who possess the required work orientation/ethics and commitment to safety as well as the ability to learn mechanical and electrical concepts and skills. Candidates who meet the minimum criteria will be eligible to participate in the selection process as openings are identified. This includes a pre-screen, a test battery, and a review of past performance/experience

Requirements

  • NO LOTT violations in the last 5 years
  • NO safety write ups in the last 5 years
  • Willingness to work and train on both 1st and 3rd shifts, eventually transitioning to 3rd shift.
  • Must have exceptional attendance history. May be counted on to work off hours or come in on days off i.e weedends.

Responsibilities

  • Must follow all safety rules and procedures; watch out for self and team member’s safety at all times. Always follow lock out and tag out and MSK procedures; always use personal protective equipment (safety glasses, ear plugs, steel toed shoes & safety vest, others as required). LOTT proficiency must be shown at all machine centers.
  • Must understand and carry out housekeeping standards.
  • Must demonstrate teamwork and resolve issues effectively and professionally.
  • Must be able to read a standard tape measure, read and thoroughly understand job specifications, and follow written and oral directions.
  • Must be a self-starter, able to operate from directions or independently as needed
  • Demonstrated ability to add and subtract all units of measure read and copy figures, and count and record figures.
  • A comprehension level is required to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in English in written or oral form and to deal with problems.
  • Constant standing, walking, and reaching at or below shoulder level; frequent twisting, bending, and lifting from the ground; repetitive lifting up to 35 pounds.
  • Must be willing and able to work daily and weekly overtime, including weekends, as business conditions require.
  • Lift Truck Certification, Ariel work platform certification.
