What do we need: People Serving People is seeking a Maintenance Associate responsible for performing routine maintenance tasks, responding to repair requests, ensuring the overall upkeep and safety of the facility both interior and exterior, and apply lessons learned in Trauma Informed Care training into the daily interactions with guests.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Basic computer skills, including the ability to check email.
  • Dependable and a self-starter.
  • One-year experience in the Facilities field.
  • Must have a good driving record.
  • Must have DOT health card or the ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
  • Must maintain DOT health card throughout employment.
  • Must have dependable transportation during on-call period.
  • Authorized to operate a variety of company vehicles.
  • Physical ability for high mobility to be able to stand and move throughout 8-hour shift.
  • Experience working with people from diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.

Nice To Haves

  • Vocational school certificate in plumbing, electricity, building maintenance, or housekeeping desired.
  • Experience with equipment maintenance, electrical, plumbing, or other skilled trade desired.
  • Experience working in residential properties is desired.
  • Experience working with homeless families and/or individuals preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs general maintenance of the building and equipment.
  • Maintains the general cleanliness of the interior and exterior of the building including, but not limited to; sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, washing windows, emptying trashes and cleaning restrooms.
  • Assists in the daily laundering of guest linens and towels.
  • Cleans empty and dirty rooms when needed.
  • Leads volunteers and contracted temporary workers.
  • Perform general maintenance task as assigned by supervisor.
  • Assist in driving the box truck for donation pick-ups when needed.
  • Assist in meal service when necessary.
  • Applies lessons learned in Trauma Informed Care trainings into daily interactions with guests.
  • Ability to be on call in times of need.
