About The Position
The Maintenance Assistant at Central Valley Specialty Hospital plays a crucial role in ensuring the overall maintenance and upkeep of the facility and its grounds. Under the general direction of the Facility Operation Manager, this position is responsible for a variety of maintenance tasks, including electrical, plumbing, and painting work. The Maintenance Assistant is expected to perform both minor and major repairs on all buildings and equipment, with major repairs being conducted under the supervision of licensed maintenance workers. This role requires a proactive approach to preventive maintenance, which includes scheduled inspections and repairs of building mechanical equipment, ensuring that all systems are functioning optimally and safely. In addition to routine maintenance tasks, the Maintenance Assistant will be responsible for cleaning and inspecting the boiler, treating water with appropriate chemicals, and calibrating and repairing pneumatic systems. The role also involves replacing broken windows, repairing doors and locks, and installing window blinds. The Maintenance Assistant will maintain detailed records of all maintenance procedures, including daily, weekly, and monthly checklists, and may operate a computer system that controls and monitors mechanical equipment and utility systems. The position requires the ability to respond to emergency maintenance requests promptly and effectively. The Maintenance Assistant will also assist with renovation and remodeling projects, which may include repairing plaster and drywall, painting, and performing outside custodial duties such as snow removal. This role may involve obtaining estimates for supplies and repair parts and ordering necessary materials as needed.
