About The Position

The Maintenance Assistant is responsible for the overall upkeep and maintenance of the hotel. This includes handling all repairs and work orders on a daily basis, conducting ongoing maintenance programs, and inspecting the property to identify potential and current needs. The role also involves performing preventative maintenance as scheduled.

Requirements

  • Needs experience in technical crafts (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, etc.).
  • Specialization in these trades is preferred.
  • An ability to advance knowledge in these areas is essential.
  • Must be able to reach all areas of hotel to assist clients.
  • Carrying and lifting of heavy items.
  • May be required to work nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Will be required to be on call when away from work.

Responsibilities

  • Effectively and professionally communicates with co-workers and supervisor.
  • Follows company policies and procedures.
  • Ensures all fire and safety inspections are completed and any discrepancies are corrected.
  • Responsible for the safety of the department and building.
  • Administers the preventative maintenance program as required, properly completing work orders on time.
  • Completes training regarding safety, security, department procedures and service guidelines. Conducts training of co-workers as required.
  • Provides a professional image at all times through appearance and dress.
  • Meets with vendors and suppliers to discuss scope of, and products and materials used in, repair activities.
  • Obtains pricing and bids or develops cost estimates as directed.
  • Maintains and repairs fire and life safety systems, room equipment, HVAC, plumbing and electrical systems, kitchen appliances, refrigeration equipment, pool equipment, lighting, laundry equipment and other systems/equipment as directed.
  • Performs skilled repair and maintenance operations using power tools, hand tools, welding equipment, etc.
  • Monitors tool inventories.
  • Monitors supplies, places orders with approved vendors as needed.
  • Maintains working spaces in safe and clean condition.
  • Responsible for understanding and adhering to guidelines set forth in the team member handbook. Expected to report to work on scheduled days and at scheduled times.
  • Observes the 5x10 rule, which is to be complied with at all times. Anticipate and address guests' service needs; assist individuals with disabilities; thank guests with genuine appreciation.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor or management.
