The Maintenance Assistant position involves performing semi-skilled activities and tasks typical of various trade specialties, including carpentry, mechanical, electrical, motor equipment, and painting. The role requires the use of hand and portable power tools, shop equipment, measuring and testing instruments, and other equipment to conduct maintenance, repairs, renovations, and alterations. Maintenance Assistants are considered essential personnel and may report to state and/or federal supervisory personnel. They are expected to work independently and accomplish assignments thoroughly and professionally. Responsibilities include overseeing facilities, troubleshooting equipment issues, and maintaining automotive equipment. The position may also involve supervising subordinates and assisting with maintenance requirements for the Nonmilitary Use Program.
