About The Position

The Maintenance Assistant helps the Director of Maintenance to ensure the center is in exceptional condition. The Assistant helps the Director with general maintenance, preventive maintenance, and repair of the building, grounds, and equipment.

Requirements

• Ability to work in extreme hot and cold, inside and outside the facility. Ability to work during the rain, sleet, snow, and other extreme weather conditions. Will be on call for emergency situations.
• Ability to safely use all types of power equipment, such as lawn equipment, chain saws, skill saws, electric drills, and floor care equipment.
• Ability to work all scheduled hours and after hours during special projects and in emergency situations. Ability to be on call and respond quickly.
• Maintenance experience, health care setting, preferred Ability to walk, stand or sit for extended periods of time.
• Ability to kneel, crawl, reach, and grasp including climbing a ladder.
• Ability to be on call to come to center, work alternative hours including nights, weekends, and overtime when needed.
• Ability to pull, push and lift up to 100 lbs.
• Ability to work in adverse weather conditions as required, hot, wet, cold etc.
• Ability to work in confined spaces.

Responsibilities

• Works with Director of Maintenance to complete general and preventive maintenance and repairs.
• Works on plumbing, mechanical equipment and some electrical projects.
• Properly uses all safety devices, respirators, ear plugs, safety goggles, safety glasses, specialty gloves and any and all safety equipment to ensure that interior and exterior maintenance work are done in a safe and hazard free manner.
• Assists the Director of Maintenance in maintaining the facility Safety Program and actively promotes safety and accident prevention.
• Covers for Maintenance Director, when needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned
