About The Position

The Maintenance Assistant, under the direct supervision of the Maintenance Director, is responsible for overseeing the Community safety program and maintaining a secure resident home and working environment in compliance with policy and regulations. This role involves sustaining a preventative maintenance program for all Community equipment, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems, and completing all maintenance requests, both scheduled and emergency, quickly and efficiently. The Maintenance Assistant will also perform mechanical repairs, replacements, and installations of minor equipment, hardware, and controls (with Executive Director clearance), maintain various systems like water heaters, furnaces, air conditioners, and kitchen equipment, and manage community plumbing systems. Additionally, the position includes exterior maintenance duties, conducting fire and disaster drill activities with residents and team members, and engaging with residents in a compassionate and impactful manner to cultivate a warm and supportive environment.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or GED equivalent required
  • Experience in HVAC systems and/or electrical required

Nice To Haves

  • Prior Senior living experience desired
  • Demonstrates exceptional interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Oversees the Community safety program and maintains a secure resident home and working environment in compliance with policy and regulations
  • Sustains a preventative maintenance program to maintain proper functioning of all Community equipment, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems
  • Completes all maintenance requests, both scheduled and emergency, quickly and efficiently
  • Mechanically repair, replace, and/or install minor equipment, hardware, and controls. Such scope of work is to be cleared by the Executive Director
  • Maintain water heaters, furnaces, air conditioners, kitchen equipment and associated equipment
  • Maintain community plumbing systems
  • Performs exterior maintenance duties
  • Performs fire and disaster drill activities with residents and team members
  • Engages with residents in a compassionate and impactful manner, cultivating a warm and supportive environment where the values of love, compassion, and dignity are reflected in every interaction
