About The Position

The University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture is a state wide campus, with faculty based on University campuses, at Research and Extension Centers and in every Arkansas county. It consists of the Arkansas Agricultural Experiment Station (AES) and the Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service (CES), and is home to more than 1400 employees. The Division was established in 1959 and is headed by the Vice-President for Agriculture. The Division headquarters is located in Little Rock with the rest of the University of Arkansas System Administration. The Maintenance Assistant is responsible for facilities & grounds maintenance, construction, general labor demands, and other maintenance related job duties in support of the Little Rock State Office.

Requirements

The formal education equivalent of a high school diploma; plus one year of experience or training in the building construction trades, general building maintenance, or in the repair or maintenance of mechanical equipment.
Knowledge of basic carpentry, electrical systems, plumbing, painting, & heating & air conditioning.
Knowledge of the operation, maintenance, & safety requirements of motorized vehicles & equipment.
Ability to operate & perform routine maintenance & minor repairs on motorized vehicles & equipment.
Ability to perform routine building & grounds maintenance work.
Ability to use, operate, & maintain electrical tools & machinery.
