Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous experience in maintenance or a related field is advantageous.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures and regulations in a healthcare environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Follow maintenance schedules as outlined for the respective shift or area.
  • Report all accidents and incidents to your supervisor, regardless of severity, immediately on the shift in which they occur.
  • Coordinate daily maintenance services with nursing services when performing routine assignments in resident living areas.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by your supervisor, department director, and/or administrator.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding residents' protected health information, reporting any suspected or known violations to the Administrator promptly.
  • Attend departmental and staff meetings as directed or called.
  • Complete specific tasks according to daily work assignments and report any grievances to your supervisor.
  • Perform routine maintenance on grounds, parking areas, driveways, including cutting, trimming, and sweeping as necessary.
  • Carry out routine maintenance and repair tasks on the facility and its equipment, including plumbing, plastering, electrical work, carpentry, and mechanical tasks as directed, following established procedures.
  • Clean windows and screens as instructed.
  • Replace burned-out light bulbs, including exit lights, overhead lights, fluorescent lights, and room call lights, while performing cleaning duties as necessary.
  • Service heating and cooling units/systems as specified by the manufacturer and in compliance with established policies and procedures.
  • Undertake unscheduled maintenance tasks as directed.
  • Ensure maintenance supplies are replenished in work areas as necessary.
  • Maintain the facility and its equipment for resident comfort and convenience.
  • Report equipment malfunctions or breakdowns to your supervisor as soon as possible.
  • Adhere to established safety precautions when performing tasks and using equipment and supplies.
  • Assist colleagues in lifting heavy equipment and supplies as requested.
  • Ensure that equipment is cleaned and properly stored at the end of your shift.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all resident care information, including protected health information.
  • Inform residents when it is necessary to move personal possessions.
