About The Position

Join HOPES CAP, Inc. as a Maintenance Assistant and help keep our facilities safe, clean and in excellent condition. As a Maintenance Assistant, you will be responsible for maintaining the functionality, safety, and cleanliness of our facilities. From fixing plumbing issues to handling HVAC maintenance and assisting with landscaping, your role will be essential in keeping our operations running smoothly. This role requires hands-on technical skills, problem-solving abilities, and a proactive approach to facility maintenance. You will also collaborate with the Facilities team, responding to urgent repair needs and assisting in keeping our properties in excellent condition year-round.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • 3 years of experience in building maintenance or related fields.
  • Valid New Jersey Driver’s License & Boiler Operation License.
  • Basic computer skills to allow access to HOPES email and ESS to be able to maintain communication with the Agency.
  • Strong skills in electrical work, plumbing, carpentry, and HVAC systems.
  • Ability to use power tools and maintenance equipment.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and on-call shifts as needed.
  • Successful completion of a post-offer, pre-employment physical examination, TB screen, and background screen inclusive of CHRI and CARI check is required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general repairs including electrical, plumbing, carpentry, HVAC, and painting.
  • Conduct regular facility inspections and preventative maintenance across multiple locations.
  • Assist with outdoor maintenance, including landscaping and snow removal.
  • Operate power tools, hand tools, and maintenance equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Handle vehicle maintenance, including tune-ups and fluid checks.
  • Support emergency and on-call repairs during severe weather conditions.
  • Work collaboratively with the Facilities team to ensure smooth operations.
  • Be available for on-call assignments, especially during weather-related or emergency situations.
