The Maintenance Assistant/Driver is responsible for driving patients to and from appointments using company vehicles, including buses, vans, and cars. The role involves heavy-duty cleaning, grounds care, and maintenance of institutional equipment and vehicles. Responsibilities include cutting grass, fertilizing and planting flowers, spraying for insects and diseases, weeding, watering, and spreading mulch. The assistant will requisition supplies and equipment for departmental activities and coordinate maintenance work with other departments to avoid interruptions in patient care. Regular inspections of equipment and systems for proper functioning and safety are required, along with preparing and submitting reports as directed by the administrator. The position may require being on call for emergencies and performing various maintenance duties related to grounds, parking lots, and driveways, including gardening, landscaping, clean-up, and snow removal. Additional tasks include running errands, handling freight, lifting and moving heavy furniture and equipment, and other duties as assigned by the administrator. The assistant is responsible for the care, maintenance, and repairs of institutional property, equipment, and grounds, ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
