About The Position

The City of Durham's Department of Water Management (DWM) is seeking dedicated individuals to join our team of over 380 employees who provide essential water and sewer services to Durham's 309,000 residents. Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent (GED, HiSet, TASC).
• One year of maintenance or custodial experience related to assignment.
• A valid North Carolina Class C Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record.

Nice To Haves

• Experience sanitizing and disinfecting surfaces.
• Experience in floor care, carpet cleaning, buffering.
• Experience providing custodial service in a commercial building.

Responsibilities

• Update work order systems and related databases to document and facilitate maintenance operations.
• Ensure compliance with applicable policies and procedures.
• Provide janitorial, housekeeping, and custodial functions for multiple City buildings and/or recreation centers.
• Clean and maintain floors; empty trash; dust; sanitize bathrooms; clean mirrors and windows; replenish sanitation items.
• Set up and break down facilities for special events.
• Inspect equipment and report issues.
• Generate work orders; open and close facilities; pressure wash surfaces and buildings; clean outdoor facilities such as parks; assist with minor fixture repairs.
• Assist with painting, repairing, and replacing floors; assist with mixing and pouring concrete; assist with grass cutting and weed eating.
