Under the direction of Maintenance and Engineering Manager, this position is responsible for solving and identifying the root cause of repetitive problems. This position does not directly supervise other personnel. The incumbent communicates continually with all levels of personnel in Maintenance and Engineering Departments, as well as with other Maintenance personnel. Externally, they communicate with contractors and vendors. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Reviewing production and maintenance downtime data proactively to prioritize issues (pareto analysis). Developing solutions and action plans to eliminate issues by implementing the most effective actions. The action plans aim to provide a total benefit relatively close to the maximum possible result. Investigating significant downtime events reactively to develop solutions and action plans to eliminate issues. Leading Root Cause Analysis teams with area personnel to identify root causes of reliability issues, develop solutions, and identify action plans. Communicating with Production and Maintenance Department personnel to determine problem areas and solve them. Developing and preparing for solution implementation, which involves completing designs, ordering materials, and entering work orders into CMMS. Working with maintenance teams and outside contractors and vendors to implement engineered solutions. Communicating critical parameters (OA, Downtime, MTBF, etc.) and trends as corrective action items are completed. Working with Engineering Department personnel to request capital expenditures and gain approval. Coordinating training activities for hourly and salary staff in the Engineering and Maintenance Departments. Driving the Predictive Maintenance (PdM) System, which includes lubrication, infrared, vibration, and ultrasonic technologies. This involves providing PdM work order actions that are detailed and continuously evaluate work order content. Frequently ensuring that work defined by PM/PdM has a measurable completion process. Leading development of Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA). Performing other duties as assigned.
