About The Position

The Maintenance Apprentice is an entry-level opportunity responsible for various day-to-day service needs regarding the physical condition, appearance, and operational efficiency of the property. This role ensures a safe and attractive living environment for residents, exceptional quality and service, and sustained resident satisfaction. The Maintenance Apprentice works closely with the Maintenance Supervisor, honing their skills for a future role as a Maintenance Technician.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • Basic skills in carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, equipment repair, and painting.
  • EPA Section 608 Technician Certification- Type II or Universal Certification (or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment).
  • Proficiency in the use of hand and power tools.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with strong organizational and follow-up skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Ability to read and understand policies, procedures, and safety notices in English.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a positive attitude and strong customer service orientation.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with basic computer keyboarding and navigational skills.

  • Experience in a maintenance role or similar field.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate the HEROES principles of being Helpful, Engaged, Responsive, Outstanding, Excellent, and Successful in all activities and interactions.
  • Ensure timely, accurate, and high-quality completion of resident service requests.
  • Perform routine, preventive, scheduled, and emergency maintenance repairs, as well as general upkeep tasks throughout the community and on all equipment; maintain appropriate logs and records.
  • Provide excellent customer service and communicate effectively with residents, associates, management, and guests.
  • Ensure all areas are kept safe, tidy, and free of trash, debris, and animal waste.
  • Continuously monitor all areas of the community and grounds to ensure they are properly and safely maintained.
  • Participate in apartment turnovers as directed, including repairs, renovations, painting, and cleaning of vacant apartments.
  • Maintain landscaping, including watering flowers and performing snow removal as needed.
  • Ensure understanding and compliance with all relevant policies and procedures.
  • Respond timely and appropriately to emergencies.
  • Participate in and attend all required in-service training sessions.
  • Support other communities as assigned by management.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
