Under close supervision, performs basic maintenance and repair work to parks facilities, and grounds; performs related duties, as assigned. Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following: Plant, water, weed, trim, renovate, and fertilize lawns, shrubs, trees, and flower beds. Spade and otherwise cultivate ground around plants and shrubs, including mixing and applying fertilizers. Prepare ball fields, operate hedgers, blowers, and other related equipment for grounds maintenance. Perform weed abatement and remove weeds and trash. Assist in the installation and/or repair of irrigation systems. Open and close park facilities, clean and maintain facilities. Secure City facilities and alarm systems. Remove graffiti from park structures and amenities. Repair damaged benches or trash containers and clean sidewalks and picnic areas. Report noted repairs of facilities or equipment to supervisory staff. Perform light building maintenance including basic plumbing and electrical repairs. Perform general construction projects. Paint interior and exterior areas. Maintain maintenance records. Safely operate City vehicles and equipment.
