About The Position

The Maintenance Tech is responsible for reporting all injuries, no matter how minor. Must maintain a clean, safe, and non-hostile work environment. The position must demonstrate “technical” lock out tag out (LOTO) procedures. Minimize negative impacts to the environment in all areas of operation. Identify and record problems (non-conformances, incidents and near misses); initiate, provide, implement, and verify solutions to those problems. Ensure continuous improvement in all areas pertaining to the job which include quality, health, safety, security, and environmental.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 6 months as a Level B Maintenance Operator or 5 years industrial maintenance and pass Level A Exam.
  • Need to have 1,000 hours on the job training in the packaging plant or 3 years automation experience.
  • Experience in maintenance functions
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • TWIC (Transportation Workers Identification Credentials) for access to IMTT’s terminal locations.
  • Basic carpentry skills; to include woodworking, tiling, sheet metal and painting
  • Mechanical pipe threading, cutting, fitting, and brazing
  • Read prints and schematic diagrams
  • Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills in the English language.
  • Ability to understand written and verbal communication in the English language.
  • Ability to make decisions in a variable environment.
  • Ability to communicate with all other terminal departments.
  • Experience in the use of computers including Microsoft Office software (Excel and Word).
  • Have a good knowledge of sound engineering practices and maintenance management systems
  • Basic understanding and repair of filling, carton erector, palletizers, shrink wrapping, capping and other packaging machines and their controls

Responsibilities

  • Remove, rebuild, and reinstall loading arms and swivel joints
  • Must be able to perform pump and motor removals and re-installation, shimming, coupling and shaft alignment with little to no supervision.
  • Safe and effective usage and maintenance of electric and pneumatic power tools
  • Must have knowledge of mechanical pipe threading equipment, cutting, fitting and pipe size recognition and proper routing and bracing of pipe runs.
  • Must have knowledge of mechanical pipe / tube fitting and brazing.
  • Must have knowledge of pump seals, pump packing, inspection, removal, and installation.
  • Must have knowledge of the replacement of valves and gearboxes.
  • Packing inspection, removal and replacement on valves and rotating equipment.
  • Must have knowledge of power transmission equipment troubleshooting and repair, to include removal and installation of belts, pulleys, chains, sprockets, gears and mechanical drives.
  • Must have welding on pipe and flat stock and safe torch usage.
  • Troubleshooting, repair, and performance of preventive maintenance of air compressors and dryers, including oil filter and various component replacements
  • Basic understanding and repair of boiler controls and operations.
  • Inspection and installation of steam traps and tracing.
  • Basic carpentry skills; to include woodworking, tiling, sheet metal and painting.
  • Conveyor roller and belt inspection, repair, and installation.
  • Perform lubrication of pumps, bearings, valves, and rotating equipment.
  • Install pipe installation and metal jacketing.
  • Replace light bulbs
  • Proper operation of lift trucks, high-lift equipment, bobcat, and boom truck operation.
  • Perform parts and maintenance area cleaning.
  • Report short comings of inventory, tools, and parts regularly.
  • Perform repairs to lift and pick-up trucks, i.e., oil and other fluid/filter changes, paint touch-up, brake replacement.
  • Filter and meter troubleshooting, repair, installation, and replacement.
  • Understanding of packaging machines and their controls - troubleshooting and repair of filling, carton erector, palletizers, shrink wrapping, capping and other packaging machines and their controls.
  • Complete the Meter and Temperature Control Report (BLNK270) daily.
  • Dump garbage and clean the boiler room as needed.
  • Learn and keep all necessary maintenance logs and PM/WO paperwork updated and recorded, where applicable
  • Assist and observe higher level Mechanics and Electricians for on-the-job training purposes.
  • Have knowledge of proper usage of loading equipment, i.e., chain falls, pulleys, wenches, and load moving equipment for rigging and tail lines.
  • Must be able to enter confined spaces and provide confined space entry rescue for minor tank repairs – will have CSE / CSR Training.
  • Perform electrical system troubleshooting and repairs, including circuit design and protection device selection and installation, up to three phase 480 volts
  • Install and repair electrical heat tape
  • Install, repair, and troubleshoot lighting, fans and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC)
