  • Knowledge of terminology and standard abbreviations used in groundskeeping.
  • Knowledge of proper care and maintenance of groundskeeping equipment.
  • Skill in using hand-held power tools and motorized equipment.
  • Knowledge of techniques followed in weed control and types of pesticides.
  • Knowledge of procedures followed in pruning and cutting trees.
  • Valid Driver's License.

Nice To Haves

  • Hoisting License.
  • Pesticide License.
  • Snow plow experience.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine manual tasks for maintenance, repair, or beautification of campus grounds or roads.
  • Cut grass, weeds, or brush; clean culverts, gutters, and drains.
  • Load and unload vehicles; move and set up furniture.
  • Spread sand, gravel, loam, or asphalt; dig ditches or post-holes.
  • Repair guardrails or fences; patch concrete or asphalt surfaces.
  • Maintain, erect, or repair signs; clean or mark roadways for parking lots.
  • Erect or dismantle snow fences; paint fences, posts, and building exteriors.
  • Plant, seed, transplant, prune, trim, water, spray, or fertilize trees and plants.
  • Sweep sidewalks, rake leaves, collect debris, and shovel snow.
  • Inspect equipment and tools for wear and tear; prepare work orders for repairs.
  • Make general repairs of a simple nature to groundskeeping equipment.
  • Operate mechanical or power-driven equipment; drive a truck.
  • Maintain necessary records, such as inventory and maintenance records.
  • Provide on-the-job training to employees.
