About The Position

Amentum is actively seeking an Engineering Technician to perform work as a US Naval Ships' Main Steam Propulsion Support Specialist. The position will be located at the Mid-Atlantic Regional Maintenance Center (MARMC) Code 263, Naval Station Norfolk, Virginia.

Requirements

• Primary skills required are in condition-based maintenance assessment, repair, and maintenance of Main Steam Propulsion Support on US Naval ships.
• Have knowledge about US Naval Ships' team Main Propulsion Support on Navy Ships.
• Demonstrate a working knowledge of Navy assessment programs, visit processes, and reporting methods for visits.
• Ability to utilize computers including the Microsoft Office Suite for compiling information for reports and history files and transfer digital pictures from camera to computer and enhance as required and label them for report purposes.
• Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a secret US government clearance. Note: US citizenship is required to obtain a secret clearance.

Nice To Haves

• Desired minimum of ten (10) years of experience in the operation, repair, maintenance, and assessment of US Naval Marine Reduction Gear, Turning Gear, Line Shaft Bearings, Thrust Bearings, Shaft Seals, and Bulkhead Shaft Seals.
• Desired minimum of five (5) years of specialized hands-on experience in the operation, repair, maintenance and assessment of US Naval Marine Main Reduction Gear, Turning Gear, Shaft Line Bearings, Gas Turbine Generator Reduction Gear, and Auxiliary Equipment Support.

Responsibilities

• Provide support for various assessments and technical assistance related to US Automatic Boiler Control Systems, Main/Auxiliary/Waste Heat Boilers, Main Feed Systems, Main Shaft Seals, Line Shaft Bearings, Main Reduction Gears, and Vibration Analysis on Navy Ships.
• Conduct inspections and/or assessments of current ship conditions.
• Evaluate the findings of the inspections and/or assessments and determine a way ahead to correct the current situation in supporting Steam Main Propulsion and related systems.
