About The Position

Mailroom Clerk New York, NY (onsite) 2 Months Contract (temp to hire) Schedule: 6-day work week (4 hours MON, 8 hours TUES, 8 hours WED/THURS/FRI, 4 hours SAT) Qualifications This position will support The New School in 4 student mail rooms, all within a 10 minute walk from one another. They receive mail and sort it into the student mail boxes once a day. Packages come in from numerous carriers such as US Post office, Federal Express, Client and Amazon; once received, they scan in the packages and hold them until the student picks up. Candidates must be able to lift 50 pounds.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 1–2 years of mailroom, copy/print, or office services experience
  • Basic PC skills including MS Office and email
  • Strong organizational and customer service skills
  • Ability to lift up to 50–55 lbs
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and move equipment
  • Comfortable walking between multiple buildings

Nice To Haves

  • Copy/print or reprographics experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Receive, sort, and distribute student mail daily
  • Scan and log incoming packages from USPS, FedEx, Client, and Amazon
  • Operate high-volume copiers, scanners, and document imaging systems
  • Perform binding, finishing, QC, and final checks
  • Handle shipping and receiving of materials and supplies
  • Maintain copier areas, clear paper jams, and report technical issues
  • Maintain daily logs, meter readings, and supply inventories
  • Deliver completed jobs and mail to designated locations
  • Walk between campus buildings as required
  • Assist with meeting room setup and light building support
  • Perform filing, archiving, and document management tasks
  • Provide customer service support to students and staff
