About The Position

The Mailroom Clerk is responsible for handling the day-to-day operations of the mailroom, including receiving, sorting, and distributing incoming and outgoing mail and packages. This role ensures timely and accurate mail handling to support smooth internal communication and business operations. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and able to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.

Requirements

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in sorting and labeling.
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to lift packages up to 50 pounds.
  • Familiarity with mailroom equipment and shipping software.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • A combination of education and relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of formal experience requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • 1–2 years of experience in mailroom operations, administrative support, or shipping/receiving.
  • Experience working in a corporate or office environment.

Responsibilities

  • Receive, sort, and distribute incoming mail and packages to appropriate departments and personnel.
  • Prepare and process outgoing mail, including weighing, labeling, and affixing postage.
  • Maintain records of incoming and outgoing mail and packages.
  • Ensure proper handling of sensitive or confidential mail items.
  • Coordinate with shipping vendors (e.g., USPS, FedEx, UPS) for pick-ups and deliveries.
  • Maintain mailroom supplies and request reorders when necessary.
  • Operate mailroom equipment such as postage meters, envelope openers, and scanners.
  • Monitor and maintain cleanliness and organization of the mailroom area.
  • Assist with special mailings and bulk shipments as required.
  • Provide backup support to other administrative functions as needed.
  • Receive and process print requests.
