About The Position

The Pharmacy Technician assists in the communication and dispensing of medications via mail, maintaining records and reports, and ensuring sufficient inventories at workstations. This role supports pharmacists in non-professional aspects of medication preparation and dispensing, while also handling customer inquiries and maintaining compliance with regulations.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
• Current Pharmacy Technician Certification required, plus specialized certifications as needed.
• Current license as a registered pharmacy technician in NYS, required as of 4/25/21.
• 1-3 years of relevant experience, required.

Responsibilities

• Assists Pharmacist(s) in non-professional aspects of preparing and dispensing medication; fills, packages, labels and stocks medications.
• Labels containers of drugs according to department specification; fills medication orders in outpatient area.
• Calculates required dosing and day supply for orders; assists Registered Pharmacist in maintaining records and reports.
• Documents customer inquiries, issues, transactions, and other relevant information into the computer system.
• Enters and processes orders into the computer system; maintains clean work environment according to standards.
• Transports required pharmacy material; receives and maintains records of stock and inventory control.
• Assists in material control by maintaining records and inventories; maintains sufficient daily inventory of supplies.
• Operates point-of-sale cash system according to department policies; handles correspondence to patients and makes outbound calls as needed.
• Follows policies and procedures to assist in answering various inquiries; complies with FDA mandates and manufacturer restrictions.
• Picks-up and maintains placement of sufficient daily inventory of supplies.
• Performs related duties as required.
