About The Position

This position executes and participates in the delivery of interschool and interdepartmental mail, correspondence, and packages in a prompt, accurate, and courteous manner. Works with some additional schools handling purchasing duties to include, data entry, creating requisitions, vendor set up, and providing customer service. DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or State Approved High School Equivalency.
  • Some experience in delivery/courier service preferred.
  • Or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and/or training that provides the required knowledge and abilities.
  • Knowledge of rules and regulations of driving.
  • Some knowledge of the location of schools and school system facilities.
  • Some knowledge of preventive maintenance techniques of small vehicles.
  • Skill in driving.
  • Ability to lift and carry packages and equipment.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
  • Ability to read.
  • Ability to drive in a safe and responsible manner.
  • Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with personnel of other departments.
  • Must have current and valid Georgia driver's license and have a good driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in sorting mail and correspondence for delivery.
  • Provides mail delivery to each assigned school and facility on a daily basis.
  • Assumes responsibility for property accountability of all packages and small equipment delivered; turns in properly signed delivery receipts to the Property Accountability Section daily.
  • Utilizes and maintains equipment and material in a responsible and reliable manner.
  • Performs preventative maintenance checks to delivery vehicles, as necessary.
  • Assist with procurement activities related to request for price quotes.
  • Corresponds with vendors and/or employees to handle issues relating to purchasing processes.
  • Corresponds with vendors regarding prices, product availability, and delivery.
  • Negotiates terms and conditions with vendors as needed.
  • Responds and answers inquiries from employees regarding requisitions, purchase orders, contracts, pricing, etc.
  • Completes purchase orders for processing.
  • Reviews requisitions for goods and services.
  • Maintains appropriate files and records.
  • Attends appropriate meetings, conferences, conventions, etc.
  • Works within the onsite warehouse as needed, including but not limited to the receiving of products for delivery.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
