The position involves performing diagnostic Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) exams, exercising professional judgment in the performance of procedures, ensuring MRI safety considerations, and providing a quality patient care experience. The technologist will initiate life support measures as necessary, interact effectively with patients and their family members, physicians, and other health care workers, and possess extensive knowledge of the operation of all MRI equipment.

Requirements

  • Satisfactory completion of formal Radiologic Technology training in an AMA approved or JRCERT approved school.
  • Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) training or experience preferred.
  • ARRT certification or ARMRIT certification required at the time of hire.
  • MRI certification to be obtained within two years post-hire preferred.
  • Licensure through the ND Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy Board required if working in North Dakota.
  • Permit to practice through the Iowa Department of Public Health required if practicing in Iowa.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within six weeks of employment and recertified as required.

Responsibilities

  • Performs diagnostic Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) exams.
  • Exercises professional judgment in the performance of procedures and MRI safety considerations.
  • Provides a quality patient care experience.
  • Initiates life support measures as necessary.
  • Interacts effectively with patients and their family members, physicians, and other health care workers.
  • Positions the patient and provides for comfort during the exam.
  • Administers contrast material as required.
  • Obtains patient history and clinical indication for MRI study.
  • Accurately documents in patient records.
  • Utilizes electronic medical record software for accurate scheduling and billing procedures.
  • Works to develop an understanding of the patient's physical and emotional status.
  • May perform diagnostic radiology procedures and basic diagnostic radiology tasks.
  • May perform mobile imaging, electrocardiogram (EKG), cardiac monitor placement, and dual energy x-ray absorptiometry (DEXA) procedures.
