About The Position

The Logan County Family Court is seeking a full-time Magistrate to oversee court hearings and ensure the fair administration of justice. The role involves interpreting and enforcing procedural rules, analyzing legal documents, and making informed decisions on cases. The Magistrate will play a crucial role in supporting the court's mission to empower individuals and families through quality legal services.

Requirements

• Must have been engaged in the practice of law for at least four (4) years
• Must be in good standing with the Supreme Court of Ohio
• Knowledge and familiarity with office and case management software including Courtview and Puritas Springs
• Must be professional in demeanor and attitude
• Must have excellent critical thinking skills
• Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form

Responsibilities

• Preside over hearings
• Interpret and enforce rules of procedure
• Read documents on pleadings and motions to ascertain facts and issues
• Write decisions on cases
• Research, review, analyze, and provide a summarization of matters before the court
