About The Position

We are seeking a Machinist to join our Maintenance team at our Pueblo, Colorado location. As a machinist you will machine, disassemble, and assemble parts for equipment and machines in a safe manner. This position reports to the Maintenance Superintendent. You will use lathes, milling machines, vertical and horizontal boring mills, shapers/slotter machines, surface and cylindrical grinders, radial drill presses, appropriate hand, power and measuring tools, radio controlled overhead cranes, forklifts, presses and all other shop equipment. The work will involve bench-floor & field work, including alignments. You will utilize materials which include castings, forgings, bar stock flats and rounds. You will read prints and drawings, layout and plan work according to blueprints, and select proper materials and machines necessary for precision machining of product. Additionally, you will test, inspect, dismantle, assemble and repair machined product accurately while making provisions for handling of materials, equipment and tools when needed. You are expected to observe all safety rules and LOTO procedures, keep work area and equipment clean and orderly, perform routine maintenance and assist Maintenance personnel. The job requires working in both inside and outside environmental conditions, while exposed to elevated noise levels, oils solvents, and oil based products, extreme cold and heat; close proximity to moving parts, chips, shavings, scale, and sharp tools. You will need to obtain and maintain OSHA 10 and equipment certifications, as required.

Requirements

  • Machinist Apprenticeship, AAS degree in Machining Technology or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in all categories of Machining Technology.
  • Ability to perform installation and set-up of 'Class 5' bearings & Babbitt Bearing Fits.
  • Competent in manipulating numbers, quantities, shapes and spaces.
  • Ability to repair machinery required in operating departments and roll shops.
  • Valid Colorado Drivers License.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • Physical ability to climb, walk, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and make repetitive motions.
  • Ability to exert forces up to 50 pounds and frequently up to 100 pounds.
