Job Description: The person hired for the position of Machinist will work at our Royersford, PA plant site. This position provides an opportunity to transition from other private, public, government or military experience to a 3M career. The Impact You’ll Make in this Role: As a Machinist you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by: Read, understand and follow work orders, blueprints & engineering drawings. Measure and verify setups and parts by measuring positions, first-run parts and sample work pieces utilizing comparator, calipers, micrometers, bore gages, height gages, indicators and other measuring equipment needed. Manual machining including turning, boring and milling within ±.001” Maintain a clean and safe work environment, good personal safety record, report unsafe acts, conditions or equipment, keep current with safety policies. Select tools & select/create work holding for optimum productivity. Set-up and operate grinders as needed to machine parts to print specifications. Set-up and operate manual lathes, mills, grinders as needed to machine parts to print specification. Report time and material in manufacturing systems.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED or higher.
  • Minimum one (1) year of machinist experience in private, public, government or military environment and/or Technical School.
  • Manual Machining Experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated strong conceptual and problem-solving abilities.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of relevant machining experience.
  • Proficiency in required functional and technical machining skills.
  • Applicants who meet the basic qualifications above will be required to take and pass 3M elected testing as a part of the selection process
