Requirements

  • Must be able to document activities through reports, sketches, etc.
  • To perform these activities requires a high school or vocational school graduate with courses in shop mathematics to be supplemented by four years of experience in a machining discipline.
  • Must know cutter geometry, feeds, speeds, heat treat characteristics, and metals.
  • Must know proper procedures for doing surface plate inspection and be adept in using various precision hand tools and small shop equipment.
  • Is above average in machinery proficiency.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of current machining experience.
  • Requires the ability to work with and effectively solve problems concerning technical tooling difficulties.
  • Must have above-average manual dexterity in the assembly of components and complex setups.
  • Must be able to work within tight spaces 75% of the time.
  • Must be able to work in a non-temperature-controlled environment 100% of the time.
  • Must be able to work alone with little supervision and stay on task.
  • Must furnish own set of standard hand tools.
  • 75% of the time, must be able to lift, stoop, bend, walk, pull, and carry +/- 75 pounds.
  • Must be able to withstand continuous exposure to disagreeable noise, dirt, and fumes within the OSHA allowance.
  • Must be comfortable working in an environment where there is possible exposure to lost-time accidents, including but not limited to the hands, arms, feet, or back.
  • 75% of the time spent standing throughout the shift.
  • Must follow the companys safety rules and comply with lockout tagout procedures.
  • Must be able to check their work for errors and correct any mistakes discovered.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred experience with CAD software.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret complicated tooling and part drawings.
  • Work with advanced shop mathematics, including algebra, geometry, and trigonometry, to calculate unknown angles, linear dimensions, speeds, and feeds.
  • Devise and make holding fixtures.
  • Shape and sharpen cutting tools.
  • Applies a broad knowledge of machining, including machining characteristics of various materials, finishing techniques, and assembly.
  • Set up and operate various standard machine tools to work to very close tolerances (.0002).
  • Able to understand experienced CNC language.
  • Is highly proficient in GD&T proofing.
  • Showcasing a high degree of mental concentration to complete plan and layout sequencing of machining and assembly of complicated fastener tooling and components.
  • Devise and make holding fixtures.
