S&C Electric Company is seeking a dynamic individual to join our Metal Cutting & Turning Operations team. As a Machinist, you'll be crucial in ensuring smooth operations and supporting our diverse team. In this job you will be setting up and operating a variety of CNC Turning, Vertical and Horizontal machining centers. Duration of set-ups varies, once set-up, running times vary depending on the job order. You will be working in a production environment where all jobs have a measured standard production rate, and you will be responsible for the quality of your work. Most tasks require good hand/eye coordination and the full range motion of both hands and arms on a regular and repetitive basis.

  • Handling of piece parts ranging in weight from 1lb. to 25 lbs.
  • Deburring and cleaning of parts using various hand and power tools such as a belt sander or drill press.
  • Inspection of parts visually and using various measurement tools such as height gauges, micrometers and calipers.
  • Enrollment and successful completion of courses offered at S&C through S&C Continuous Improvement Institute are expected.
  • Demonstrated ability to read blueprints and follow specific instructions and procedures.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and plan daily work assignments in a self-directed changing environment.
  • Knowledge of shop math.
  • Proficient use of measuring equipment such as height gauges, micrometers and calipers.
  • Understanding of metal-cutting applications and machine practices.
  • Previous experience with set-up and operation of numerically controlled machines.
