About The Position

Barfield is more than just a prestigious name in the industry: it is subsidiary of Air France Industries KLM Engineering We are looking to hire a dedicated Machinist to join our team who will support our Hydraulic Department. Founded in 1945, Barfield has six facilities located near airports in Miami (MIA), Phoenix (PHX), Louisville (SDF), Atlanta (ATL) and Doral (MIA), to satisfy the needs of customers operating commercial or regional aircraft in North, Central and South America. Barfield is part of the Air France Industries KLM Engineering & Maintenance (AFI KLM E&M) network, a major MRO provider. With a workforce of 14,000, AFI KLM E&M offers technical support for airlines, ranging from airframe maintenance to engine overhaul and repair and supply of components.

Requirements

  • Must have high school diploma or equivalent, technical college degree or military training/background in the required field.
  • 10 + years of specialized experience in the field.
  • Must have strong knowledge using measuring tools, such as micrometers, dial Indicators, vernier calipers, and other precision measuring tools required for the position.
  • Must be able to follow written instructions by the FAA (AD/SB/SL), OEM CMM, Airline engineering orders or other data as required to perform maintenance.
  • Must be able to read and interpret engineering blueprints.
  • Must have superior operating knowledge of the machinery in the shop i.e., lathe, milling machine, drill press, grinders, powered hand tools and welding equipment (Oxy-Acetylene, MIG, TIG).
  • Be able to prioritize job tasks and functions as needed to maintain proper dept. workflow.
  • Must have the ability to work with little to no supervision.
  • Must be adaptive and willing to engage new concepts, processes, and technical capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Reports to the Shop Manager.
  • Work in proximity with shops and engineering dept.
  • Considered an expert in his or her position/technicity.
  • As applicable to the designated shop: Is highly skilled in the operation and troubleshooting of machine shop equipment.
  • Needs to be familiar with a variety of the field’s concepts, practices, and procedures. Accomplish goals using positive experiences, judgement, and time management.
  • Understands the concept and function of all shop equipment.
  • Able to read, write, communicate, and understand English language and has an advance knowledge of math.
  • Possess advanced dexterity with hand tools.
  • Must be able to perform other duties as assigned by shop manager.
