The Machining Blade Manufacturing – Machinist (2nd Shift) is responsible for operating CNC and/or manual machine tools to manufacture turbine blades and related components used in aerospace and industrial gas turbine engines. This role ensures parts are produced to engineering specifications, tight tolerances, and Chromalloy quality standards. The machinist will perform setups, in‑process inspections, troubleshooting, and adjustments while maintaining a safe and high‑efficiency work environment.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of machining experience (CNC or manual) in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work instructions.
  • Proficiency with precision measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, indicators, etc.).
  • Knowledge of machining principles, speeds/feeds, tooling, and basic G‑code understanding.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain tight tolerances.
  • Ability to work independently, follow processes, and meet production deadlines.
  • Must be able to work 2nd shift and overtime as required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in aerospace, turbine components, or high‑precision manufacturing.
  • Previous experience with grinding, EDM, or multi‑axis CNC machining.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing methods (5S, Kaizen, Standard Work).
  • Experience handling exotic alloys (Inconel, Hastelloy, titanium, etc.).

Responsibilities

  • Operate CNC milling, turning, grinding, or EDM equipment used in turbine blade manufacturing.
  • Perform machine setups, tool changes, offsets, and adjustments to maintain dimensional accuracy.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, work instructions, and inspection plans.
  • Inspect parts using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, CMM reports, and other precision measuring tools.
  • Monitor machine operations, identify deviations, and make corrections to maintain required tolerances.
  • Document production results and complete required shop floor paperwork or system entries (MES/ERP).
  • Follow all Chromalloy safety policies, standard work, and quality management system requirements.
  • Collaborate with engineers, programmers, inspectors, and leadership to resolve manufacturing issues.
  • Support continuous improvement activities, including lean manufacturing and 5S initiatives.
  • Maintain a clean, organized workstation and perform routine equipment maintenance.
